Traffic Tickets in Brampton, Ontario
Brampton gives ticket recipients two in-person payment locations — its Provincial Offences Office and City Hall — on top of online, phone, and mail options.
Ontario’s Provincial Offences Act lets municipalities run their own provincial offences courts to handle matters like traffic tickets, bylaw infractions, and other non-criminal charges. The underlying Highway Traffic Act rules that define speeding, careless driving, and similar offences are identical across the province — but the local court location, mailing address, and payment process are set by each municipality, so what applies in Brampton won’t necessarily apply in a neighbouring city.
Brampton's Provincial Offences Office
The City of Brampton lists its Provincial Offences Office at 5 Ray Lawson Boulevard, at the southwest corner of Hurontario Street (Highway 10) and Ray Lawson Boulevard. Helpfully, the city also allows in-person fine payments at Brampton City Hall, 2 Wellington Street West, so residents aren’t limited to a single physical location. Both are open Monday to Friday, excluding holidays, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., according to the city's website.
Ways to pay
Beyond the two in-person locations, Brampton accepts payment online (Visa, MasterCard, or American Express), through an automated touch-tone phone system at 905-874-2404, or by mail using a cheque or money order sent to The City of Brampton, P.O. Box 93, Brampton, Ontario L6V 2K7. The specific deadline and reference number for your matter are printed on the ticket itself.
Automated enforcement programs
Brampton, like other municipalities in the Greater Toronto Area, has expanded automated speed enforcement in community safety zones near schools in recent years. Tickets from these cameras go to the registered vehicle owner and carry a fine only, so if your notice doesn’t identify a specific driver, it may be following a slightly different administrative process than an officer-issued Highway Traffic Act offence notice, even though both are ultimately processed through the same provincial offences system described above.
