When an error is identified

When we identify or are told about a factual error — an incorrect fine amount, a wrong demerit-point value, an out-of-date deadline, or a description of a process that no longer matches how it actually works — the affected page is reviewed against current official sources as soon as reasonably possible. If the error is confirmed, the page is corrected, and its “last reviewed” date is updated to reflect the date of that review so readers can see the page has been revisited.

When a rule changes

Ontario’s Highway Traffic Act, demerit-point schedule, and licensing rules are amended from time to time. When we become aware that a rule described on this site has changed, the relevant page is updated to reflect the new rule, and, where it would help a reader, we note that the rule changed rather than silently replacing the old figure. We do not maintain a public changelog for every page, but the “last reviewed” date is always a reliable indicator of how recently a page was checked.

What corrections do not include

This policy covers factual and procedural errors in our own content. It does not extend to disputes about the application of the law to a specific ticket or case — that is a legal question that depends on facts we don’t have, and should be directed to a qualified Ontario legal professional rather than to us.

How to report a suspected error

If you believe something on this site is incorrect or out of date, please let us know through the Contact page. When reporting a suspected error, it helps to include the page URL, the specific statement you believe is wrong, and, if possible, a link to the source you believe is more current. We review every report we receive, though we can’t guarantee a specific response time or that every suggested change will be made if we’re unable to confirm it against a reliable source.
