Calculators
Stunt Driving Penalty Calculator
Get a general sense of the reported penalty range for a stunt driving conviction — separate from the immediate roadside suspension that can apply before any conviction.
Stunt driving carries two separate sets of consequences: an immediate roadside licence suspension and vehicle impoundment that can happen before you ever see a courtroom, and a separate, generally more severe penalty if convicted. This tool estimates the reported conviction penalty range. For the full picture, including the roadside process, see our Stunt Driving in Ontario guide.

How the estimate works
The calculator works from the reported range described in our stunt driving guide: a substantial fine, commonly reported in a range of roughly $2,000 to $10,000; 6 demerit points; and a licence suspension measured in years rather than days for a first conviction. It does not estimate the separate roadside suspension and impoundment, which apply administratively at the time of the stop and aren’t undone even if the charge is later withdrawn or the driver is acquitted.
What this tool can't tell you
It can’t predict where a specific case will land within the reported range, whether mandatory minimum suspension rules currently in effect apply to your situation, or anything about the separate roadside suspension and impoundment process. See Stunt Driving in Ontario for how the roadside process and the court process are treated separately.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does this estimate include the roadside suspension?
No. The roadside licence suspension and vehicle impoundment are a separate administrative process that can apply at the time of the stop, before any conviction. This tool estimates the reported conviction penalty only.
Is stunt driving a criminal offence?
No, it's a Highway Traffic Act offence, not a Criminal Code offence, though it's treated as one of the more serious provincial offences given the roadside consequences and reported penalty range.
What counts as stunt driving?
A defined list of behaviours, most commonly driving 50 km/h or more over the posted limit. See our stunt driving guide for the full list.
